How can I cope with the post-holiday blues?

The end of the holidays can be a real let down. This is especially true of divorced parents in Florida, who may experience sadness at the end of the holidays, which could mean seeing kids less. In this case, there are steps you can take to combat the post-holiday blues and approach your life with renewed vigor. WebMD offers the following advice so you can do just that.

De-clutter your home

While most people talk about spring cleaning, the time right after the holidays is great for clearing out some of your home’s clutter. Get rid of things you don’t need, or at least pack them away if they’re not useful on a daily basis. If you have items that are old and worn, don’t be afraid to get rid of them. People sometimes keep items only for their sentimental value, and this can be a troublesome habit to break over time.

Use your time to help others

Volunteering is a great way to spend your time. Not only does it allow you to help those who are less fortunate, it also gives you some perspective on your life. You can volunteer at a soup kitchen, homeless shelter, or with animals in need of care. This is a great way to imbue your life with meaning while also helping to improve the lives of those around you.

Try something new

Many people fall into a rut this time of year. Whether you're dissatisfied by your job or your social life, consider trying something new to break the monotony. For instance, if you’re able going back to school is a great option, especially if you’re looking at a change of careers. You can also do something for your own edification, such as learning a new language. Trying new things will broaden your horizons while also giving your self-esteem a much-needed boost.
